Thailand eVisa Application Process & Requirements For Kenyan Citizens

Kenyan citizens can now easily apply for a Thailand eVisa online without visiting the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi. The eVisa system streamlines the application process, allowing travelers to apply, pay, and upload documents digitally through the Thai eVisa system.

Thailand Visa Requirements For Kenyans

Kenyan Citizens Must Meet the Following Requirements:

Thailand tourist visa for Kenyan citizens allows travel for tourism or visiting family and friends. Applicants must submit the required documents and meet visa conditions before traveling to Thailand.

  1. Passport or travel document valid for 6 months
  2. Document indicating current location. Kenyans can provide either a National ID, utility bill, rental agreement, employer letter, or bank statement as proof of current location.
  3. Applicant’s National ID card
  4. Proof of round-trip air ticket & accommodation
  5. Passport pages showing your previous visas/immigration stamps
  6. A recent passport-sized Photograph taken within the last six months that meets ICAO standards -clear, in colour, with a plain white background.
  7. Financial evidence. Applicants MUST provide proof of funds amounting to no less than 20,000 THB (approximately KES 85,000)
  8. Certified bank statements for the past three months
  9.  Invitation letter from family/friends in Thailand
  10. Submit the personal information of your family member or friend in Thailand, including a copy of their ID card, passport, or valid Thai stay permit
  11. Submit a sponsorship letter from your family or friend in Thailand, stating that they will provide support during your visit
  12. Applicants must provide proof of employment in the form of an official letter or certificate from their employer, detailing their position, employment period, current status, leave approval, the last three months’ payslips, and a copy of their employment contract 
  13. Business owners or self-employed applicants must provide proof of their business, including a notarised declaration or official letter on business letterhead stating the business name, nature, period of operation, current status, and financial stability. Applicants should also include business registration documents, the last three months’ certified bank statements, invoices, contracts, or audited accounts to demonstrate active business activity
  14. Parental consent letter to travel is required for applicants under 18 applying for a Thailand visa, and must be duly issued and signed by the applicant’s parents, along with a copy of the Parent’s passport biodata page as proof of parental authorization.
  15. Consular officers may request additional documents if they consider them necessary

Thailand Business Visa for Kenyan citizens allows travel to Thailand for business meetings, conferences, negotiations, and other professional activities. Applicants must meet the visa requirements and submit the necessary documents before traveling.

 

  1. Passport or travel document valid for 6 months
  2. Document indicating current location
  3. Applicant’s National ID card
  4. Proof of round-trip air ticket & accommodation
  5. International Health Certificate on Yellow fever Vaccination
  6. Passport pages showing your previous visas/immigration stamps
  7. A recent passport-sized Photograph taken within the last six months that meets ICAO standards -clear, in colour, with a plain white background.
  8. Financial evidence. Applicants MUST provide proof of funds amounting to no less than 30,000 THB (single entry) (approximately KES 119,000) and 120,000 THB (multiple entry)(approximately KES 475,000) 
  9. Certified bank statements for the past three months
  10.  Invitation letter from the company in Thailand and registration documents
  11. Submit the personal information of your inviter in Thailand, including a copy of their ID card/passport, or valid Thai stay permit
  12. Submit a sponsorship letter declaring support during your visit
  13. Applicants must provide proof of employment in the form of an official letter or certificate from their employer, detailing their position, employment period, current status, leave approval, the last three months’ payslips, and a copy of their employment contract
  14. Thai Visa Validity And Duration Of Stay

The Duration Varies Depending on the type of Visa Issued:

  • Tourist visas are valid for 3 months (single entry) or 6 months (multiple entry). 
  • Business visas are valid for 3 months (single entry) or 1 year (multiple entry). 
  • Please note that for each entry, visitors cannot stay for more than 60 days from the date of arrival.

Processing Time

Thailand visa processing usually takes at least 15 working days. Applicants should apply 1-3 months before travel, and the Embassy may request additional documents or interviews if needed.

1. Tourist Visa (TR – Tourist)

  • Fee: 5,000 KES (3 months), 25,000 KES (6 months)

  • Validity: 3 months or 6 months

  • Stay Limit: 60 days per entry

2. Tourist Visa (MT – Medical Treatment)

  • Fee: 5,000 KES

  • Validity: 3 months

  • Stay Limit: 60 days per entry

3. Non-Immigrant Visa (B – Working / Business)

  • Fee: 10,000 KES (3 months), 25,000 KES (1 year)

  • Validity: 3 months or 1 year

  • Stay Limit: 90 days per entry

4. Non-Immigrant Visa (ED – Study / Meeting / Workshop / Training)

  • Fee: 10,000 KES

  • Validity: 3 months

  • Stay Limit: 90 days per entry

Important Rules For Kenyan Visitors Entering Thailand

Tips for a Smooth Entry into Thailand for Kenyan Citizens
  1. Kenyan travellers are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 3 days (72 hours) prior to their arrival

  2. If a foreigner stays in Thailand longer than 90 days, they must notify the nearest Immigration Officer in writing about their place of stay. This notification is required every 90 days.

  3. Foreigners are not allowed to work in Thailand unless they have been granted a Work Permit.

  4. Arrival card information must be submitted at least 3 days before the scheduled arrival date in Thailand.

  5. Other documents to provide at the port of  include:

    • Valid passport with a visa

    • Return or onward ticket

    • Proof of accommodation in Thailand

    • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay

    • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers from Kenya
    • Completed Health Declaration Form (T.8) of yellow fever
    • Travel Insurance Policy valid for the entire duration of your stay

If your Thailand visa application is refused, don’t worry, a rejection is not the end of the road. You are allowed to reapply, and there is no mandatory waiting period before submitting a new application.
