Greece Schengen Visa Requirements For Kenyan Citizens

Greece Visa Eligibility

Greece, the cradle of Western civilization, offers breathtaking history, culture, and landscapes. For Kenyan travellers, it promises unforgettable experiences, from ancient ruins in Athens to the sunlit Aegean islands, where every moment tells a story.

Citizens of the following countries may apply for a Schengen visa to Greece at the Embassy of Greece in Nairobi

  • Comoros

  • Uganda

  • Tanzania

  • Kenya

  • Madagascar

  • Burundi

  • Rwanda

Note:  The Embassy of Greece does not accept visa applications from Somali passport holders.

Greece Visa Application Information In Kenya

Visa Fee:
Provide the visa fee of 13,500 KES (non-refundable).

Visa Processing:
Provide your application up to six months before travel. Visa processing may take up to 15 calendar days. Applications for travel beyond six months from the application date are not accepted.

Visa Application Appointment:
Provide your application in person by appointment on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Book in advance.

Visa Collection:
Provide the receipt when collecting your visa on Friday, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The passport may be collected by another person if they present the original receipt and a signed authorisation letter.

Greece Schengen Visa Requirements In Kenya

  • Visa Application Form: Provide a fully completed and signed visa application form.

  • Passport Photograph: Provide one recent colour photograph with a white background, taken within the last three months.

  • Valid Passport: Provide your current passport, valid at least six months beyond the visa expiry date. Previous passports may be requested.

  • Residence Permit (Non-Kenyans):
    Provide a copy of your valid Kenyan residence permit showing at least three months’ validity beyond your travel dates. Applicants who are not legal residents of Kenya are not eligible to apply at this Embassy.

  • Civil Status Documents:
    Provide birth and/or marriage certificates.

  • Purpose of Travel: Provide a formal invitation from the organizing institution stating the exact dates, venue, and purpose of your visit (for conferences, meetings, or training).

  • Invitation Requirements for Greece:
    Provide a sworn statement (Υπεύθυνη Δήλωση) authorized by Greek authorities (KEP or Greek Police) from an EU citizen host, including purpose of visit, dates, and host’s physical address, along with a copy of the host’s EU passport or ID. Email to gremb.nai@mfa.gr.

  • Accommodation Proof: Provide evidence of accommodation in the host country, such as hotel reservations, lease agreements, or confirmation from your host.

  • Proof of Financial Means: Provide certified bank statements for the last six months and recent pay slips to demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay.

  • Employment or Business Documents: Provide a letter from your employer confirming leave or, if self-employed, a copy of your company registration certificate.

  • Minors (Under 18 Years):
    Provide a notarized parental consent letter if traveling alone or with one parent, a copy of parent/guardian passport or ID, and the child’s birth certificate. If one parent is deceased, provide a death certificate. Children under 12 years are exempt from the visa fee.

  • Return Travel Booking:
    Provide proof of return flight reservation. Do not pay for the ticket before visa approval.

  • Insurance Coverage:
    Provide travel medical insurance with minimum coverage of €30,000 from an approved  provider.

Note: All documents should be and addressed to the Embassy of Greece in Kenya in English and/or in Greek. Applicants may be asked to submit further documentation if necessary. Submitted documents will not be returned.
