Tourist & Business Visit Requirements & Eligibilities
Mandatory Documents
All applicants must submit the following documents regardless of the type of visa they are applying for:
- Visa Application Cover Letter
Confirmation of submission of the online visa application. The letter must be printed, dated, and signed three times by the applicant. - Passport Photograph
One recent coloured passport photo taken within the last six months. The photo must have a white background, the mouth closed, and meet the required size (35 x 45 mm). - Original Passport / Travel Document
The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay in the Schengen Area, issued within the last ten years, and have at least two blank pages. - Travel Medical Insurance
Insurance must cover the entire Schengen Area for the full duration of stay, with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000. Policies with deductibles or reimbursement clauses are not accepted. - Proof of Legal Stay in Kenya (For Non-Kenyans)
A valid Kenyan residence permit or proof of legal stay, valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area. - Proof of Sufficient Financial Means
Personal bank statements for the last three months showing regular transactions and final balance. Employed applicants should also provide payslips for the last three months. All adult applicants must show personal funds, even when travel costs are sponsored.
Tourist Visit
Applicants traveling to Denmark for tourism must also provide the following:
- Proof of Financial Means
Applicants must demonstrate personal funds equivalent to approximately KES 10,145 per day. Bank statements for the last three months must clearly show sufficient balance and activity. - Flight Itinerary
A roundtrip flight reservation showing intended travel dates. Applicants are advised not to purchase flight tickets before visa approval. - Proof of Accommodation
Hotel or hostel reservations covering the entire stay, or other acceptable proof of accommodation. - Detailed Travel Itinerary
A brief day-by-day outline of planned activities and destinations during the stay in Denmark or other Schengen countries. - Proof of Employment or Status
An employer letter confirming job title, salary, duration of employment, and approved leave. If applicable, a copy of the employment contract should be provided. Self-employed applicants should submit a Kenyan PIN certificate. Students, retirees, and other applicants must provide supporting documents relevant to their status. - Proof of Ties to Kenya
Documents that demonstrate strong personal or economic ties to Kenya, such as marriage certificates, lease agreements, or title deeds.
Family or Friend (Private) Visit
Applicants visiting family or friends in Denmark must submit the following documents in addition to the mandatory requirements:
- Proof of Financial Means
Applicants must show personal funds equivalent to approximately KES 7,100–10,145 per day, depending on accommodation arrangements, supported by bank statements for the last three months. - Invitation Letter from Host in Denmark
A signed invitation form (VU2) from the host, clearly stating the duration of stay, relationship to the applicant, and the host’s Danish identification details. - Proof of Relationship
Documents confirming the relationship between the applicant and the host, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, photographs, or travel history. - Flight Itinerary
A roundtrip flight reservation showing the intended travel dates. - Proof of Employment or Status
An employer letter confirming job role, salary, duration of employment, and approved leave. A contract of employment may be submitted if available. Other applicants should provide documents relevant to their personal status.
Business Visit
Applicants traveling to Denmark for business purposes are required to submit the following documents:
- Proof of Financial Means
Applicants must demonstrate personal funds equivalent to approximately KES 7,100 per day, even where business expenses are partially or fully covered by the host company. - Flight Itinerary
A roundtrip flight reservation covering all planned travel. - Proof of Accommodation
Hotel reservations or proof that accommodation costs will be adequately covered during the stay. - Business Invitation or Conference Confirmation
A signed invitation letter from the Danish business partner stating the nature and duration of the visit. Conference attendees must provide confirmation of registration and proof of payment. - Proof of Employer or Company Registration
A copy of the business license of the employing company. Self-employed applicants must provide a Kenyan PIN certificate, company registration documents, and recent company bank statements. - Proof of Employment
An employer letter detailing job role, salary, duration of employment, approved leave, and confirmation of who will cover travel and living costs. A contract of employment should be provided if applicable.
All documents must be submitted in both original and copy form.
- Applicants are advised to ensure that all documents are complete, accurate, and genuine. Submission of the required documents does not automatically guarantee visa approval, and additional documents may be requested by the embassy where necessary.
