Australian Visa Application Process & Requirements In Kenya

AUSTRALIAN VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR KENYAN CITIZENS

  1. Passport: A valid passport is required with at least six (6) months validity beyond the intended date of travel. Certified copies of the bio-data page and all pages containing visas and entry/exit stamps must be included.

  2. Passport Photograph: One recent passport-sized photograph (45mm x 35mm), taken within the last six months, showing head and shoulders only against a plain background, with no digital alteration, must be submitted, and the applicant’s full name must be written on the back.

  3. Birth Certificate: A certified copy of the applicant’s birth certificate must be submitted.

  4. Name Change Evidence: Formal legal evidence of any name change, such as a marriage certificate or deed poll, must be submitted where applicable.

  5. Proof of Funds: Evidence demonstrating sufficient funds for the intended stay in Australia, such as recent bank statements, payslips, tax records, audited accounts, or proof of credit card limit, must be submitted.

  6. Travel Itinerary: A clear travel itinerary outlining planned activities, dates, and duration of stay in Australia must be included.

  7. Accommodation Details: Proof of accommodation, such as a confirmed hotel reservation or evidence of where the applicant will stay while in Australia, must be submitted.

  8. Invitation Letter (If Visiting Friends or Relatives): A letter of invitation from the host in Australia must be submitted, together with evidence of the host’s legal status and financial capacity where they are sponsoring the visit.

  9. Proof of Strong Ties to Kenya: Evidence demonstrating intention to return to Kenya after the visit, such as an employer letter, business documents, school enrolment, proof of family ties, or evidence of property or assets, must be submitted.

  10. Unemployed Applicants: A signed letter from a relative or supporter confirming financial support must be submitted, together with evidence of the supporter’s financial capacity.

  11. Employer Letter (Business Visitors): A letter from the employer stating the applicant’s position, length of employment, purpose of travel, and intended business activities in Australia must be submitted.

  12. Business Invitation: A letter of invitation from the Australian host organisation must be submitted.

  13. Business Itinerary: A detailed business itinerary including meeting details and contact information of Australian business parties must be submitted.

  14. Conference or Meeting Details: Proof of conference registration or meeting arrangements must be submitted where applicable.

  15. Company Documents: Documents demonstrating that the employer or company is actively operating, such as a business registration certificate or annual report, must be submitted.

  16. Self-Employed Applicants: Certified copies of business registration documents, business bank statements, and evidence of recent business transactions such as contracts, invoices, or shipments must be submitted.

  17. Parental Consent (Applicants Under 18): Written consent authorising travel to Australia must be obtained from both parents or legal guardians.

  18. Form 1229: A completed and signed Form 1229 must be submitted together with copies of both parents’ or guardians’ government-issued identification documents.

  19. Form 1257: A completed Form 1257 (Undertaking Declaration) must be submitted.

  20. School Enrolment: Evidence of current enrolment at a school, college, or university must be submitted for applicants under 18 years.

  21. Guardianship Documents: Custody orders, guardianship documents, or death certificates of deceased parents must be submitted where applicable.

  22. Certified Copies: Certain documents may be required to be submitted as certified copies.

  23. Translations: Any documents not in English must be accompanied by official English translations.

  24. Additional Requests: The Australian High Commission may request further documentation during the visa assessment process.
