Spain Schengen Visa Application Process & Requirements In Kenya

Application & Identification:

  • Visa Application Form Ensure the visa application form is fully completed and signed.
  • Passport Submit your original passport, valid for at least three (3) months after your return date, issued within the last ten (10) years, and containing a minimum of two blank pages.
  • Previous Passport Include your previous passport if the current one was issued within the last three years.
  • National ID Attach a clear photocopy of your Kenyan national ID card, showing both the front and back.
  • Passport Photograph One recent color passport-size photo (45mm × 35mm) taken against a white background is required.

  • Insurance & Financial Evidence:

  • Travel Medical Insurance Insurance coverage of at least €30,000, valid for the entire stay, covering medical emergencies, hospitalization, and repatriation.
  • Personal Bank Statements Original bank statements for the last three months, stamped by the bank ( Must include a filled bank statement verification form)
  • Payslips Copies of payslips from the last three months.
  • Proof of Sufficient Funds Evidence showing €90 per day and a minimum total of €815 for the trip.

  • Employment & Income:

  • Employer Letter
    A signed letter from your employer confirming:
  • Job position
  • Salary
  • Employment terms
  • Approved leave dates
  • Purpose of travel
  • Employer contact details
  • Self-Employed Applicants
    Submit your KRA PIN certificate, business registration documents, and business bank statements for the last three months.
  • Retired Applicants
    Proof of pension payments or other retirement income.

  • Travel History & Fees:

  • Previous Visas
    Submit clear copies of any UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Schengen visas issued within the past three years.
  • Visa Fee Payment
    Include proof of payment for the visa application fee.

  • Residency Requirements (Non-Kenyans Only):

  • Kenyan Residence Permit
    A copy of your valid Kenyan residence permit, with at least three months’ validity beyond your travel dates.
  • Reason for Applying in Kenya
    A written explanation outlining why you are applying for a Spain visa in Kenya if you are not a Kenyan resident

  • Proof of Ties to Kenya:

    • Documents demonstrating strong ties to Kenya, such as:
      • Marriage certificate
      • Property title deed
      • Tenancy agreement

    Travel Arrangements:

  • Flight Itinerary
    A preliminary flight reservation showing your intended travel dates.
  • Travel Itinerary
    A detailed travel plan is required if you will be visiting more than one Schengen country.
  • Accommodation Confirmation
    Confirmed hotel or apartment reservations covering the entire duration of your stay.
  • Invitation Letter (Family or Friends)
    If visiting relatives or friends, submit a certified invitation letter issued by the Spanish Police.

  • Additional Requirements for Minors:

  • Birth Certificate
    The child’s original birth certificate along with a copy.
  • Parents’ Identification
    Copies of both parents’ ID cards and passports.
  • Parental Consent Letter
    A notarized consent letter from both parents, or from the non-travelling parent.
  • Legal Custody Documents
    A custody order where applicable, especially if:
    • A parent is deceased, or T
    • he guardian is not a biological parent.
  • School Confirmation Letter
    A letter from the school indicating:
    • Child’s details
    • School holiday dates
    • Parents’ names
    • School contact information
  • Group Travel Details
    A complete list of group members and the supervising adult if the minor is travelling as part of a group.
  • Invitation Letter for Minors
    A certified invitation letter if the minor is visiting family or friends in Spain.

  • Spain Visa Processing Time In Kenya & Important Notes

    • All submitted documents required for the visa application must be provided either in English or in Spanish.
    • The consular authorities retain the right to request an interview at the Embassy, which the applicant must attend if required.
    • The standard legal processing time for a decision on the application is 15 calendar days, although this period can be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in certain individual cases.
    • If an applicant chooses to collect their passport before the final decision is officially rendered, the visa application will be automatically considered withdrawn.
    • Applicants must be aware that all application fees of KES 13, 600 for visa fees and KES 2,547 for BLS service fee paid in cash  and non-refundable. The Embassy will not respond to any status requests before the official processing deadlines have expired.
    • As per instruction received from Embassy of Spain,  needs to be duly filled in by the Applicant/Authorized representative and needs to submit along with the Visa Application.
