Visitor Visa Duration & Entry Types for Kenyan Citizens

Applicants may be issued either a single-entry or multiple-entry visa based on assessment.

  1. Length of stay: Applicants MAY stay in New Zealand for up to 9 months within an 18-month period.

  2. Multiple-entry visa: This allows applicants to enter New Zealand multiple times while the visa is valid and stay up to 6 months in any 12-month period, provided they have spent at least 9 months outside New Zealand in the preceding 18 months.

  3. Single-entry visa: This allows applicants to enter New Zealand once and stay for up to 9 months within an 18-month period.

  4. Special eligibility: Applicants from Pacific Islands Forum countries MAY qualify for a 24-month multiple-entry visa, subject to meeting all requirements.

Documents Requirements for Kenyan Citizens

  • Valid passport: Applicants MUST present a valid passport. The original is required for paper applications, while a clear copy is required for online applications.

  • Passport-sized photographs: Applicants MUST provide recent passport-sized photos. Submit one digital photo for online applications or two physical photos for paper applications.

  • Travel history: Applicants MUST provide proof of travel history, including copies of current and previous passports, visas, and entry or exit stamps.

  • Visa refusal history: Applicants MUST provide copies of any visa refusal letters if they have previously been denied a visa.

  • Proof of home ties: Applicants MUST provide evidence of strong ties to their home country, such as an employment letter, school letter, or proof of family ties.

  • Proof of funds: Applicants MUST demonstrate sufficient financial means to cover their stay. This may include bank statements, payslips, credit card statements, or proof of prepaid accommodation.

  • Proof of accommodation: Applicants MUST provide evidence of accommodation arrangements, such as confirmed hotel bookings or details of a host in New Zealand.

  • Sponsorship documents: Applicants MUST provide a completed sponsorship form if their visit is being sponsored.

  • Sponsor’s financial proof: Sponsors MUST provide financial evidence, including bank statements, payslips, and proof of accommodation.

  • Proof of relationship: Applicants visiting family MUST provide proof of relationship, such as marriage or birth certificates.

  • Health declaration: Applicants MUST submit a signed health declaration and confirm that they will cover any medical expenses during their stay.

  • Medical requirements: Applicants MAY be required to provide a chest X-ray or undergo a medical examination depending on the visa type and duration of stay.

  • Police clearance certificate: Applicants staying more than 24 months MUST provide a recent police clearance certificate issued in English.

  • Travel plans: Applicants MUST provide proof of travel arrangements, including a detailed itinerary to demonstrate genuine visitor intent.

  • Proof of departure: Applicants MUST provide evidence of their intention to leave New Zealand, such as a return ticket or proof of sufficient funds to purchase one.

  • Dependents: Applicants including dependents MUST provide all required supporting documents for each dependent.

  • Translated documents: Applicants MUST ensure that all documents not in English are officially translated into English.
