Documents Required For Ireland Short stay 'C' Visa Application For Kenyan Citizens
Your application must include supporting documents such as:
1. Passport Photographs
Applicants must submit two recent passport-sized colour photographs with their visa application. Both photographs must measure 45–50 mm in height and 35–38 mm in width. On the back of each photograph, the applicant should sign their name in their native language and clearly write their AVATS Visa Application Transaction Number. The photographs must be clear, recent, and meet standard passport photo requirements.
2. Applicant Cover Letter
You must include a signed and dated cover letter explaining the purpose of your visit to Ireland. The letter should contain your full name and postal address, the reason for traveling, and your planned arrival and departure dates. It must also provide details of where you will stay during your visit, such as a hotel, Airbnb, or the home of a friend or family member. In addition, the letter should clearly state who will pay for your trip. You should also confirm that you will follow all visa conditions, not depend on public services, and leave Ireland before your visa expires.
3. Application Summary Form
After completing the online visa application through AVATS, you must print the Application Summary Form generated by the system. The form must be signed and dated by the applicant and submitted together with all supporting documents and the visa application fee, if applicable. Failure to include the signed summary form may result in the refusal of your visa application due to incomplete documentation.
4. Invitation Letter (If Visiting Friends or Family)
If you plan to visit friends or family in Ireland, you must provide a signed invitation letter from your host. The letter should explain why you are being invited, the dates of your visit, and describe your relationship with the host. It must include the host’s full residential address in Ireland and a clear colour copy of their passport or national identity card. If you will stay at their home, the letter must confirm that you are invited to stay with them and include the full address including the EirCode. If the host is not an EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen, they must also include a copy of their Irish Residence Permit and immigration permission stamp.
5. Travel or Holiday Plan
Applicants should provide a brief description of their planned visit to Ireland, including the places they intend to visit and where they will stay. This should be supported with printed accommodation booking confirmations, such as reservations from hotels, guesthouses, hostels, Airbnb, or other accommodation providers. The confirmations must clearly show the dates of your stay during your visit to Ireland.
6. Proof of Funds
Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to support themselves during their stay in Ireland. This is usually done by submitting an original bank statement covering the previous six months. The statement must display the applicant’s name, address, bank account number, and account activity showing deposits and withdrawals. If the statement is printed from online banking, it must be officially certified by the bank. Any large or unusual transactions should be clearly explained in writing.
7. Financial Support from Friends or Family
If a friend or family member in Ireland is helping to pay for your trip, they must provide a written statement explaining what expenses they will cover, such as accommodation or travel costs. They must also submit documents proving they can afford the support, including an up-to-date bank statement, three recent payslips, and a letter from their employer confirming their employment.
8. Travel / Medical Insurance
Applicants must obtain travel or medical insurance that covers the entire period of their stay in Ireland. In some cases, the visa office may ask you to provide proof of this insurance before your visa is granted. Having valid travel insurance is also required when entering Ireland.
9. Evidence You Will Return to Kenya
You must provide evidence showing strong ties to Kenya to demonstrate that you will return home after your visit. This may include a letter from your employer confirming your job, how long you have worked there, your approved leave, and your expected return to work, along with three recent payslips. Students should submit a letter from their school or college confirming their course and that they will return to continue their studies. You may also include documents showing family ties, such as birth certificates of dependent children, or property ownership or rental agreements.
10. Previous Visa Refusals
Applicants must declare any previous visa refusals from any country when applying for an Irish visa. This information must be included in your application and supported by any relevant documentation if available. Failure to disclose previous visa refusals may result in the automatic refusal of your Irish visa application.
