GERMANY VISA PROCESS & REQUIREMENTS FOR KENYAN CITIZENS

Full Germany Visa Requirements & Eligibility in Kenya

To apply for your Germany visa in Kenya, you will need the following documents:

  1. Visa Application Form: You must complete the application online, print it, sign it, and date it before submission.

  2. Passport Photograph: Provide one recent coloured biometric passport photo taken against a white background.

  3. Valid Passport: Submit your original and signed passport that is valid for at least three months after your return from Germany and contains at least two blank visa pages.

  4. Copy of Passport Bio Page: Include a clear photocopy of the page in your passport that shows your personal data and photograph.

  5. Previous Schengen Visas: If you have held any previous Schengen visas, attach clear copies of those visas.

  6. Residence or Work Permit: Non-Kenyan citizens must include a valid Kenyan residence, work, or study permit.

  7. Bank Statements: Submit certified bank statements for the last three months showing your regular income or financial transactions. These statements must be certified by your bank, and Mpesa statements are not accepted.

  8. Travel Health Insurance: Provide travel medical insurance that covers all Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros. The policy must include emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation.

  9. Proof of Employment or Occupation:

    • If you are employed, include a letter from your employer confirming your position, your approved leave of absence, and your expected return date. You must also attach three recent payslips certified by your employer.

    • If you are self-employed, include your company registration certificate and certified statements from your business bank account for the past three months.

    • If you are a student, attach a current letter from your university confirming your enrolment, your course of study, and permission to travel during the specified period.

    • If you are unemployed or sponsored, include a signed letter explaining your source of income or a sponsorship letter accompanied by your sponsor’s proof of income and identification.

  10. Proof of Accommodation: Provide confirmed hotel reservations covering your entire stay in Germany. If you plan to stay with a host, include an invitation letter and a copy of the host’s passport or residence permit.

  11. Travel Itinerary: Prepare a detailed daily itinerary showing your planned destinations, activities, and travel dates within Germany and the Schengen area.

  12. Flight Booking: Include a provisional round-trip flight booking that shows your travel dates. You do not need to purchase a real ticket before visa approval.

APPLICATION TIMING & PROCESSING TIME

  • You can apply for your Germany visa up to 6 months before your planned travel date and no later than 15 days before departure.
  • A complete application is usually processed within 15 working days, while an incomplete file may take up to 45 days.
  • During peak travel seasons (April-September and December), processing may take longer.
  • The Embassy and TLS Contact do not offer express or urgent processing, so submitting a complete and accurate application early is the best way to avoid delays.
