Turkey Visa Application Process And Requirements For Kenyan Citizens
TOURIST/FRIEND/FAMILY VISIT REQUIREMENTS
Passport and Photographs
Applicants must submit a passport that is valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended date of travel and contains a minimum of two (2) blank pages. In addition, applicants must provide two (2) recent biometric passport-size photographs measuring 2.5 inches × 2.5 inches (63 mm × 63 mm) with a plain white background, taken within the last six (6) months.
Employment or Personal Status Proof
Employed applicants must provide a leave letter from their employer confirming their job title, salary, and approved leave dates. Self-employed applicants are required to submit business registration documents together with proof of income, while retired applicants must provide official retirement or pension documents confirming their source of income.
Invitation Letter, Host and Sponsorship Requirements (If Applicable)
Applicants visiting family or friends in Turkey, or those being sponsored, must submit a notarized invitation letter from the host or sponsor. The invitation must clearly state the relationship to the applicant, purpose of visit, duration of stay, and accommodation details. In addition, the host or sponsor must provide proof of employment or legal source of income, certified bank statements covering the last six (6) months, and copies of their Turkish identification card or residence permit, together with full contact details and address. Sponsorship is accepted only from immediate family members.
Financial Documents
Applicants must submit certified bank statements covering the last six (6) months, together with six (6) months’ salary slips or other valid proof of income or assets. In addition, applicants should provide a bank covering letter or introductory letter from their bank confirming account ownership, account status, and financial standing. The bank statements must clearly demonstrate that the applicant has sufficient financial means to cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses during the intended stay in Türkiye.
Self-Sponsoring Applicants with No Travel History
Applicants who are self-sponsoring and have no previous international travel history must provide additional documentation to demonstrate strong economic and social ties to their home country. This includes proof of asset ownership such as a land title deed and/or a motor vehicle logbook, which helps assure the visa officer of the applicant’s intention to return after the visit.
Travel Arrangements
Confirmed travel arrangements must be provided, including a round-trip flight reservation and hotel booking or official accommodation confirmation. These documents help verify the applicant’s intended travel dates and length of stay.
Travel Medical Insurance
Applicants must obtain valid travel medical insurance covering the entire duration of their stay in Turkey. The insurance must be sufficient to cover medical emergencies and repatriation if necessary. This insurance is procured at the visa application center at the time of submission.
Proof of Civil Status and Minors
Applicants may be required to submit proof of civil status documents such as marriage or birth certificates. For minors traveling alone or with one parent, a notarized parental consent letter and guardianship documents must be provided to confirm legal permission to travel.
Tour Itinerary
A detailed tour itinerary outlining planned day-to-day activities in Turkey must be submitted. This helps demonstrate the purpose of travel and planned movements during the stay.
Spouses Traveling Together
If spouses are traveling together and the spouse’s name is not endorsed in the passport, a marriage certificate issued by the Marriage Registrar and duly attested by a Notary Public must be submitted as proof of the marital relationship.
Dependents and Minors
For spouses who are financially dependent on their partners, applicants must submit a certified copy of the marriage certificate, duly authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For minor applicants (under 18 years of age), a certified copy of the birth certificate must be provided. In addition, a parental consent letter (affidavit) must be prepared by a licensed lawyer, bearing the official red stamp/seal and signatures of both parents authorizing the minor to travel.
Both parents or legal guardians must be present during the visa application submission.
