Class A Mining Permit
KENYA CLASS A MINING PERMIT - APPLICATION PROCESS & ELIGIBILITY
The Class A Permit is issued to individuals or partnerships intending to engage in mining or mineral prospecting activities in Kenya.
ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
Intend to engage in prospecting for minerals or mining
Obtain all relevant licenses and registrations from the competent authorities
Hold a valid prospecting or mining license for the mineral(s) in question
Provide proof of investment funds of at least USD 100,000
Licensing and registration are done through the State Department of Mining, including in-person registration for access to the Mining Cadastre Portal, where further application instructions are provided.
FEES AND RENEWAL REQUIRMENTS
Processing fee: KES 10,000 (payable at the time of application)
Renewal Requirements
For renewal of the Class A Permit, applicants must submit:
A valid Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN certificate
A current mining or prospecting license
